Does The Housing Fellowship accept Section 8?
Yes. We do accept Section 8 rental assistance. The Housing Fellowship provides affordable rental housing in the Iowa City area for people who have Secion 8. However, you do not have to have Section 8 to rent from The Housing Fellowship.

What is The Housing Fellowship's selection criteria?
The Housing Fellowship provides affordable rental homes scattered throughout Iowa City and Coralville to people with low incomes.
To be approved to rent from The Housing Fellowship, applicants must meet the maximum income guidelines for the home they would like to rent, have favorable landlord references for the past 3 years, demonstrate the ability to make rental payments, and pass the criminal background check.

What are your income guidelines?
The Housing Fellowship provides affordable rental homes scattered throughout Iowa City and Coralville to people with low incomes.
We receive different funding for different properties so the maximum household income applicable to a specific rental home can vary. If you recieve Section 8 through the Iowa City Housing Authority, you should qualify to rent from The Housing Fellowship. To find out if your income meets the guidelines for an available home please refer to the "Do I Qualify for this home" section after selecting each rental home you are interested in. Please remember that there is other selection criteria that you must meet to be approved to rent from The Housing Fellowship.

What utilities are tenants responsible for?
It depends on the rental home. Most home renters are responsible for all utilities.

Does The Housing Fellowship allow pets?
It depends on the rental home. There is a pet deposit of $200 per pet if approved by our Project Manager.

When is rent due? Are there late fees?
Rent is due on the first day of each month and is late after 5pm on the third. In the event that rent is not received prior to 5pm on the 3rd day of the month (regaurdless of cause, day of week, holiday closures or returned check) there is a late fee of $10 per day for a maximum late fee of $40. Late fees will be assessed on the 4th day. If the 3rd falls on a Saturday or Sunday, rent must be received in our office by 5pm on Friday to avoid late fees. If the 3rd falls on a holiday, rent must be in by 5pm the previous day.

How much is rent?
It depends on the rental home. All Housing Fellowship homes are at or below the area fair market rent. Please refer to the Rental Home Finder for the rent for a specific home.

The Housing Fellowship has rental homes scattered throughout Iowa City and Coralville. The Housing Fellowship has a variety of different home types including houses, duplexes, townhomes and condos.

Does The Housing Fellowship provide rental assistance?
The Housing Fellowship does not provide rental assistance. The Housing Fellowship is a nonprofit that provides affordable rental homes in the Iowa City area. We do accept Section 8 rental assistance. If you are looking for Section 8 rental assistance please contact the Iowa City Housing Authority. There is also rent and utility payment assistance available at www.iowarentalhelp.com or call 1-877-386-9104 for details.

Does The Housing Fellowship provide subsidized housing?
The Housing Fellowship does not provide subsidized housing, however rents are at or below fair market rent. The Housing Fellowship does accept Section 8 rental housing assitance.
